Using bmp instead of fonts for months...
Published on May 28, 2006 By RPGFX In OS Customization
Hi all... just looking for a bit of help. If I want to use bmp as my rasterizer instead of font for the month or year or whatever, how do I go about doing so? Any help would be appreciated. This would open a whole new world of ideas for me creating rainy skins...

Thanks!

Not sure exactly what you are looking to do, but you can now use .png files (for transparency). If you want to see some simple examples of those files look here:

Sorry that the weekdays are so small, but if you copy the images into your graphics editor you can see what they are.

I hope that is what you were asking about

That's exactly what I was wondering. I didn't know how they needed to be arranged. So vertically is the answer according to your images. And the 0-9 will properly cover all the dates? Or do I need to do 0-31. And is there any way to do the year with this method?

0-9 will cover all date and years too, although you could make different kinds of images for each. I just looked into some of the other skins I have and there are a few which have the weekdays horizontal instead of vertical. There is an excellent help file at his site...here are 2 entries of interest:

DaysBitmapName
Filename of the days bitmap. The bitmap must contain either numbers from 0 to 9 or from 0 to 31. All the numbers must be same size.

DaysNumOfComponents
Number of components in the bitmap. If the bitmap has numbers from 0 to 9, set this to 10. For numbers from 0 to 31 use value 32. Note that with 32 numbers the 0 is never used, so it may hold anything.

The tutorial is here: http://vapaa.dc.inet.fi/~rainy/Rainlendar/Manual.html

Thanks so much Werewolf...you have been very helpful. I've never been a big fan of the way fonts appear on rainlendar... I've been wanting to use all images but never knew how. This info you supplied is wonderful. Thanks again!
